SHARKS EXTEND CLOWE - Ryane Clowe, of Fermeuse, NL, has re-signed with the San Jose Sharks for four years and $3.5 million a season, according to reports. Clowe, a 26-year-old, 6-foot-2 power forward, was a restricted free agent coming off a career year in which he established highs in games played (71), goals (22), assists (30), points (52), plus-minus (plus-8), power play goals (11) and shots (161). Clowe played with the Moncton Beavers of the MJAHL and Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL. He joined the Sharks fulltime three years ago. - San Jose Sharks photo

FORMER MOOSEHEADS GM RETURNS TO Q STAFF
  BOUCHERVILLE, QC, July 3, 2009 – Marcel Patenaude was named Vice-President, Hockey of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Friday. Commissioner Gilles Courteau announced the appointment in a league release. 
 
TITAN ADDS RUSSIAN TO IMPORT MIX
  BATHURST, NB, July 3, 2009 - The Acadie-Bathurst Titan looked to Russia for its’ only 2009 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft choice. With the 66th overall pick, the team drafted Russian player Ilya Mashentsov.
 
CLEARY, CROSBY GET INVITES TO BIG TEAM
  CALGARY, AB, July 2, 2009 - Dan Cleary and Sidney Crosby faced off against one another in the battle for the past two Stanley Cup championships, but this coming February Cleary, a Riverhead, Harbour Grace, NL native and Crosby, a Cole Harbour, NS native, could be teammates.

ATLANTIC JUNIOR CHOWDER CUP TEAM SELECTED
  MONCTON, NB, July 2, 2009 - The 18 members of the Atlantic Canadians Junior Chowder Cup Team has been announced. The team will be among 60 teams that will participate in the 1993 Division of the Junior Chowder Cup July 8-12 in the Boston area communities of Walpole, Foxboro and Dedham, MA.
 
NOLAN TO HEAD UP AHL TEAM'S HOCKEY OPS
  ROCHESTER, NY, July 2, 2009 - Ted Nolan has been named the Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations for the 2009-10 American Hockey League season. Nolan is a former Moncton Wildcats head coach, a former NHL head coach and a former player with the Amerks
 
BROWN GETS INVITE FROM CHICAGO
  TRURO, NS, July 2, 2009 – Moncton Wildcats forward Matt Brown didn’t hear his name called at the NHL Draft but won’t have to wait too long to show his skills. The 18-year-old Bible Hill, NS resident has earned an invite to the Chicago Blackhawks’ five-day rookie camp, which starts Sunday in Chicago.

 
WILDCATS GO FOR BEST, HOPE FOR BEST
  MONCTON, NB, June 30, 2009 - Moncton Wildcats Director of Hockey Operations Danny Flynn decided to go for the best players available during the team's selections Tuesday in the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft and hope between now and the opening of training camp that he and his associates can convince the players to be here and get all the necessary paperwork completed.
 
ROCKET TRADE UP TO ACQUIRE FINNISH BLUELINER
  CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI, June 30, 2009 - The PEI Rocket acquired the #52 pick in today’s CHL Import Draft from the Victoriaville Tigres in exchange for the Rocket’s 8th Round Draft Pick in the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft. The Rocket then used this pick to select another defenceman, Lauri Tokoi from Finland.
 
MOOSEHEADS SELECT YOUNG GERMAN DEFENDER
  HALIFAX, NS, June 30, 2009 - Halifax Mooseheads continued with their plan of building with younger players Tuesday selecting a 16 year-old defenceman from Bad Tloz, Germany with their first selection in the 2009 Canadian Hockey League Imprt Draft.
 
PEI ROCKET SELECT CZECH DEFENCEMAN
  CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI, June 30, 2009 - The newest member of the PEI Rocket is 18 year old defenceman, Adam Polasek, from the Czech Republic. The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team selected Polasek with their first round pick, 19th Overall, in Tuesday’s CHL Import Draft.

  SAINT JOHN, NB, June 23, 2009 - The Saint John Sea Dogs acquired the rights to a pair of talented European players with the first and fourth overall selections in the 2009 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft held Tuesday.

TWO NOVA SCOTIANS SELECTED IN NHL DRAFT
  MONTREAL, QC, June 27, 2009 – Nineteen Quebec Major Junior Hockey League prospects were picked in the later rounds of the National Hockey League Entry Draft as it came to a close on Saturday at the Bell Centre, bringing the total number of players chosen from the "Q" to 23.

JOHN'S, NL, June 25, 2008 - Michael Andlauer, owner of the American Hockey League Hamilton Bulldogs was in St. John’s Tuesday and Wednesday to meet with St. John’s Sports and Entertainment, St. John’s Mayor Dennis O’Keefe, and other city politicians about the possibility of moving his AHL team to the Newfoundland and Labrador capital in the future.

  SUMMERSIDE, PEI, June 24, 2009 - Kenny MacDougall will not be returning as the head coach and director of hockey operations of the Summerside Western Capitals for the 2009-10 Maritime Junior A Hockey League season. General Manager Gabe Keough made the announcement Tuesday night.

PEI JUNIOR LEAGUE CHANGES NAME, ADDS TEAMS
  CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI, June 24, 2009 - The PEI Minor Junior League will now be known as the PEI Junior C Hockey League effective for the 2009-10 season. The announcement was made at the recent meeting of the PEI Junior Hockey Council. Two groups also notified the league they intend to ice a team in the league in the coming season.
