MONCTON, NB, August 22, 2012 - The reigning New Brunswick and Atlantic Major Midget champion Moncton Mark’s Work Wearhouse Flyers is getting ready for another season of memories and a rare chance to defend the team’s titles. The team is looking for some new additions and will be holding a training camp beginning August 31 at the Red Ball Internet Centre to find them.
Every year a number of players graduate to the next step playing in leagues such as the Quebec Major Junior and Maritime Junior A Hockey League. That means there’s always room for up and coming players to fill those holes.
With an even more active season ahead of them, they need players who are ready to accept a role on the team and perform at a high level.
Long time and winning coach, John DeCourcey will once again head up a staff of Darcy Demille and past Flyers Stephen MacPherson and Matt Cooling,
Already this year the Moncton Flyers have a full agenda of games. They will host the Monctonian AAA Challenge in November; attend the inaugural edition of the Haligonian Hockey Challenge in January and are one of only three Atlantic Canadian teams, the only one from New Brunswick, who have been invited to attend a showcase tournament, being presented by the QMJHL central scouting, in Quebec City at the end of November .
On top of that, this year, for the first time, teams of the NB-PEI Major Midget Hockey League will play a home and home series against two teams in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.
And there’s more, on top of all that the Flyers, as host team, is guaranteed a berth in the Atlantic Major Midget Champion and chance to again go to the Telus Cup National Midget Championship.
There’s a busy season ahead for the Flyers but a great one for players looking for exposure.
Players, who would like to try out and become a member of the 2012 NB and Atlantic Champion team, are asked to register on Monday night, August 27th at the Red Ball Internet Centre between 7:00 and 9:00pm. They will then have an opportunity to skate their stuff beginning August 31 at 6:30pm. A full schedule will be provided at registration.
