SEA DOGS NUMBER ONE, WILDCATS MAKE TOP 10
|
TORONTO, ON, January 27, 2010 – The Saint John Sea Dogs continue to be the number on team in the Canadian Hockey League for a second consecutive week. They are joined in the top 10 by the Victoriaville Tigres and the Moncton Wildcats.
The Canadian Hockey League announced its most recent BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 rankings for the 2009-10 season on Wednesday.
The Saint John Sea Dogs have the most wins, 40, of any team in the 57 team CHL The Sea Dogs won two of three games in a road trip to Quebec last weekend. Only the second place Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League has fewer losses, eight vs nine.
The Victoriaville Tigres, 33-14-1-1, slip from sixth to eighth spot . The Tigres lost decively to the Wildcats last Friday in Victoriaville. They have been in the ranking for 11 weeks this season.
The Moncton Wildcats, who won games last week on the road against three of the top five teams in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, have made the rankings for only the second time this season. The Wildcats with a 33-11-1-3 record are listed in ninth place.
The Tigres and Wildcats will meet again Thursday night in Moncton.
Drummondville Voltigeurs, who were one of the Wildcat’s victims last week have been dropped from the rankings this week although they have been given a honourable mention. They were eighth last week and had been in the listing 17 of the 19 weeks this season.
The weekly rankings of the Canadian Hockey League’s top 10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.
