DIEPPE- The City of Dieppe will welcome over 1,500 athletes for the 6th edition of the Canada 55+ Games which will take place from Tuesday the 26th until Saturday the 30th of August and hockey will be one of the sports on the schedule.
The Arthur-J-LeBlanc Center which will be the operations center during the games and the home facility for the hockey coompetition.
Members of the Team New Brunswick hockey team are Don Banks, Dieppe; Martin Boily, Shediac Cape; Dollard Bourgeois, Dieppe; Bernard Bourgeois, Dieppe; Jean-Guy Bourque, Dieppe; Normand Breau, Ammon; Georges Corriveau, Moncton; Jean-Paul Duguay, Shemogue; Normand Gionet, Dieppe; Guy Jacques, Dieppe; Michel U.LeBlanc, Shediac; Eric LeBlanc, Shediac ;Alain Ménard, Dieppe; Patrick Ouellette, Moncton; Laurent Paulin, Moncton and Donald Savoie, Moncton.
‘I am very happy to see all these athletic competitions take place in our municipal facilities and I invite the population to come and encourage the participants’, said Mayor Jean LeBlanc.
This will be the 6th edition of the Canada 55+ Games.
‘We hope this experience will continue’, said the organizing committee’s President, Émile Landry. ‘I am convinced the participants will remember their stay in Dieppe. All elements are in place for the games. Our volunteers have been working on the preparations for two years.’
New Brunswick’s representative on the national organization, Jack Brownell, said the municipality will welcome over 1,500 athletes 55 years and over and will represent 9 provinces and 2 territories: a record for the Canada 55+ Games.’
The opening ceremonies will take place at the Arthur-J-LeBlanc Center, Wednesday, August 27th at 11:00 am. The public is invited to attend.
The games took place in Portage-la-Prairie, Manitoba in 2006, Whitehorse, Yukon in 2004, Summerside, PEI in 2002, Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1998 and the first games in Regina, Saskatchewan, in 1996.
